Biodiesel is an alternative clean-burning renewable fuel like conventional diesel. Due to its biodegradable nature, it is used as a replacement for fossil diesel fuel and is more environment friendly (carbon neutral) than conventional diesel. It can also be mixed with petroleum diesel fuel in any proportion and can be used in the engines without modifications to the engines.

Hence, a shift to biodiesel from only diesel is not only a more environment friendly choice but will also be economically sustainable by reducing the usage of crude oil for diesel.

A practical demonstration in diesel automobiles could thus help alleviate technological concerns. Hence Oasis foundation helps individuals who are willing to provide testaments to the utility of Biodiesel. The team comprising three persons wanted to demonstrate that biodiesel can be practically used in most diesel engines without too many hassles.

Oasis Foundation raised donations from individuals and corporates to support this team to promote bio diesel to attempt a trip from Bangalore to Bangalore spanning 8822 km spread across 32 days which was carried out from August 24th 2022 to September 24th 2022. The trip showcased that bio diesels can be accepted as an alternative to petroleum diesel in the coming years.

In this regard, a self-owned Tata Indica car was powered on B40 fuel (40% Biodiesel & 60% Petroleum diesel blend) across 13 Indian states, 4 Indian Union Territories & Nepal. The source of biodiesel was waste cooking oil which was sourced and converted to biodiesel at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore.
